Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is a technology multiplexes data signals from a variety of sources, allowing the data to share one optical fiber while keeping the streams of data completely separated. All signals are carried on individual light wavelengths. More than 80 individual wavelengths can be shared on a single optical fiber, allowing massive amounts of data to travel over a single network link.
