QSFP Active Optical Cable (AOC) is a high performance integrated cable for short-range multi-lane data communication and interconnect applications. It integrates four data lanes in each direction with 40 Gbps aggregate bandwidth. Each lane can operate at 10 Gbps with lengths ranging from one to 100 m. These Active Optical Cables utilize multimode fiber using a nominal wavelength of 850nm. The electrical interface uses a 38-contact edge type connector.

The 40G QSFP+ AOC active optic cables are designed for 40G Ethernet links reach up to 300m (OM3) or 400m (OM4) over Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF).

Using 850 nm VCSEL technology, QSFP+ cable is an assembly of 4 full-duplex lanes, where each lane is capable of transmitting data at rates up to 10Gb/s per direction, providing an aggregated rate of 40Gb/s. The cable is available in a number of standard lengths up to 100 meters.
